Planning for long-term care isn't something most people think about until it's too late. For the next phase of the CareShield Life campaign, my team and I wanted to change that by making the conversation feel more personal, relatable, and easier to understand.

We developed The Worry-Nots, a series of stories centred around three life stages: people in their 30s to 40s, 40s to 50s, and 50s and above. Each narrative reflected everyday concerns, from believing "it won't happen to me" to wondering whether retirement savings would be enough. We also paid close attention to representing Singapore's diverse communities through a balanced mix of cultures, ages, and genders.

Rather than relying on fear-based messaging, the campaign focused on clear and reassuring storytelling. Across digital content, radio talk sets, and partnership activations, we highlighted how CareShield Life provides lifetime coverage, increasing cash payouts, and greater flexibility in long-term care planning.

Working on this campaign reminded me that government communications don't always have to feel formal. Sometimes, the most effective way to communicate an important message is through stories that feel familiar, honest, and rooted in everyday life :)

Phase 1 | Starting the Conversation

The campaign began by introducing three characters, each representing a different stage of life and a different way of thinking about long-term care. Through a series of short films, we followed Ms Noh, Mr Lukfar Ahed, and Mr Manej Mani as they navigated everyday moments, balancing work, family, and the uncertainties that quietly sit in the back of our minds.

Each film was accompanied by a series of carousel posts that explored the situations these characters faced in more detail. From wondering whether retirement savings would be enough to believing that severe disability was something that only happened to other people, the stories reflected worries many Singaporeans rarely talk about.

Rather than presenting CareShield Life as just another policy, we positioned it as a source of reassurance. As each story unfolded, CareShield Life came into the frame to ease those worries, showing how planning ahead can help lighten the burden of an uncertain future for both ourselves and the people we care about.

Phase 2 | Keeping the Conversation Going

With the three characters established, the second phase expanded the campaign through always-on content across digital and social platforms. We continued following Ms Noh, Mr Lukfar Ahed, and Mr Manej Mani, extending their stories beyond the hero films into shorter, bite-sized moments designed for everyday touchpoints.

The campaign rolled out across YouTube ads, web banners, Instagram Reels, and other digital placements, each tailored to its platform while staying true to the personalities and concerns of the three characters. Instead of introducing new narratives, we built on the emotional foundation established in Phase 1, reinforcing how CareShield Life can provide reassurance at different stages of life.

What I enjoyed most about this phase was finding ways to adapt a single story across multiple formats without losing its warmth or authenticity. It became less about creating more content, and more about creating a connected experience wherever people encountered the campaign.

Alongside the social content, I also designed an infographics sheet that broke down the scheme into simple, digestible visuals. The goal was to make information such as coverage, payouts, and eligibility feel less intimidating, translating policy details into clear, accessible content that audiences could quickly understand at a glance.
